There are some innovations that make you smile, others that intrigue... This is exactly what Djin Spirits has just achieved, the small Charentais company that has created the world's first Sloe Gin, but without alcohol.
A British Classic Reimagined... The French Way
To understand the innovation, we must go back to the star of the day: the wild sloe berry, this small midnight blue fruit that is as tart as it is fascinating. Traditionally, English distillers made a smooth and fruity digestif from it: the famous Sloe Gin.
Djin Spirits takes the recipe... and completely transforms it. In their workshop nestled in the heart of the Spirits Valley, the berries are picked after the first frosts, when their skin bursts and releases all their aroma. Then comes a double infusion in two homemade botanical distillates (Djin Immunity and then Djin Passion) crafted like natural perfumes. The result? An alcohol-free liqueur full of character, where ripe cherry, tangy orange, and a hint of almond create a surprisingly "fruit liqueur" balance.
A Craft Micro-Distillery That Takes Its Time to Do Things Right
If the Sloe Djin is attracting so much attention, it's also because it's part of a unique approach. Djin Spirits is not a factory: it's the family home of Romuald Vincent, a master liqueur maker and herbalist, passionate about plants and gentle innovations.
He has developed a patented aromatic extraction technique that captures the essence of plants… without alcohol, without additives, and with rare purity. The result: stable, natural, and certified organic creations that challenge the norms of alcohol-free, which is sometimes still perceived as bland or a gimmick.

A Collection with Staying Power
Sloe Djin joins the Signature range, launched with another anomaly in the sector: AmarOz, an alcohol-free Italian bitter, elected the world's best spirit 2024 at the Vinalies Internationales.
Here, sustainability, creativity, and craftsmanship are the watchwords. Botanical waste? Repurposed. Supply chains? Short. Inspirations? Between local traditions (the village's famous "Queen of Spades") and modern desires. Alcohol-free, at Djin, is not a deprivation: it's an invitation to savor differently.
And After? 2026, A Pivotal Year
Maison Dâme, the founding entity of Djin Spirits, will soon celebrate its 10th anniversary. To mark the occasion, an exceptional vintage cuvee will be released: an unprecedented encounter between alcoholic tradition and non-alcoholic botanical distillates. Suffice it to say, we'll be watching this closely.
A discovery box featuring all current cuvees will also be released at the end of the year, allowing you to explore the Djin universe from aperitif to digestif… without moderation.
A Beautiful Story Born Behind a Bar Counter
The adventure begins in 2018, almost by chance. A bartender friend confides in Romuald that there's a dire lack of high-end alternatives for his non-alcoholic cocktails. The 'spirit-free' options at the time? Not convincing. The conclusion is clear: consumers want to drink less, but not give up the pleasure of taste or conviviality.
So Romuald invents. Distills. Researches. And finally creates in 2019 the first French alcohol-free gin, before going on to achieve successes that would eventually shake up the French mixology scene.
In short?
Sloe Djin is not just a product: it's a signal. One that shows that non-alcoholic has matured, that it's unapologetic, that it even dares to rub shoulders with monuments of the spirits heritage. And that it can, sometimes, even reinvent them.
If you want to try: the batch is a limited edition (50 cl, €49.90).
