It's an alliance that sparks curiosity as much as it does taste buds. Absolut Vodka and Tabasco Brand, two global giants in their respective categories, announce the launch of an unprecedented spicy vodka: Absolut Tabasco™. A hybrid product, designed for thrill-seekers as well as bartenders looking for new aromatic signatures.
Available in France (and in over 50 countries) starting early 2026, this new product is part of a major trend: the growing appeal of spicy flavors, which are increasingly making their mark in both drinks and dishes.
Two icons, one common vision
On one hand, Absolut, a pioneer of premium vodka and a historic figure in modern mixology. As early as the 1980s, the Swedish brand was already disrupting conventions with its first flavored vodkas, inspiring cult cocktails like the Cosmopolitan along the way.
On the other hand, Tabasco, the absolute reference for hot sauces for over 150 years, still produced with unchanged craftsmanship in Louisiana.
While this collaboration might be surprising at first glance, it is based on a common philosophy: local production, simple ingredients, and an obsession with balance. Three pillars for each brand, which they have decided to bring together in a unique bottle.
A spiced vodka, but designed for cocktails
Unlike some 'shock' experiences on the market, Absolut Tabasco™ doesn't aim for overkill. Here, chili is not a gimmick, but a structuring ingredient.
The recipe combines Absolut vodka with a natural flavor derived from the fermented and aged red peppers used for Tabasco® sauce. The result: a vodka at 38% vol., crystalline in appearance, with a clean attack and a long, warm, and controlled finish.
"The idea was to create a real tool for bartenders", explains the brand. A vodka capable of giving character to cocktails without overpowering other ingredients, and clear enough to be easily worked with behind a bar.
Bloody Mary, Mule, Martini… chili as a new playground
Absolut Tabasco™ naturally fits into a wide range of cocktails. From revisited classics to bolder creations, spiced vodka opens up a new field of expression.
Among the suggested uses:
- a Spicy Bloody Mary, more intense and structured,
- an Absolut Spicy Mule, fresh but zesty,
- a Hot Star Martini, a spicy version of a contemporary classic,
- or even a Spicy Paf, designed as a signature shot.
So many variations that confirm the product's potential for appropriation by HORECA professionals.
Absolut Tabasco: a bottle that merges two heritages
Visually, the collaboration is clear at first glance. The iconic Absolut silhouette serves as the base, while the emblematic Tabasco diamond is featured on the label. Red, green, white: the graphic codes of the two brands coexist without neutralizing each other.
The design plays on the transparency of the glass, the contrast of colors, and screen-printing effects to create a bottle that is both identifiable and expressive: an object designed to be seen as much as tasted.
A launch at the intersection of two booming markets
If the timing seems particularly well-chosen, it's no accident. In France, the flavored vodka segment shows double-digit growth, while the hot sauce market continues its long-term progression.
The meeting of these two dynamics creates an obvious strategic opportunity, both for retailers and for bar establishments.
Offered at an average recommended price of €19, Absolut Tabasco™ will be deployed gradually:
- in HORECA networks starting January 2026,
- in supermarkets starting March 2026, with a Carrefour exclusivity in February,
- and in e-commerce.
When chili peppers permanently spice up spirits
With Absolut Tabasco™, Pernod Ricard and McIlhenny Company have created much more than just a marketing stunt. This collaboration illustrates a profound evolution in consumer expectations: more character, more boldness, but always with consistency and quality.
It remains to be seen how much further chili peppers will continue to raise the temperature in the world of spirits. One thing is certain: in 2026, cocktails are likely to heat up.
