A pioneer in craft gin since 1996, Citadelle is expanding its range with Citadelle 0.0, an alcohol-free expression developed to offer an alternative for those who wish to consume without alcohol while rediscovering the brand's aromatic universe.
Founded on an artisanal approach and a mastery of aromatic plants, Citadelle has built itself around a vision of gin inspired by nature and distillation savoir-faire. With Citadelle 0.0, the house applies this same logic to an alcohol-free creation, without resorting to classic dealcoholization processes.
A production method distinct from alcohol-free alternatives
Unlike many alcohol-free spirits on the market, often resulting from the dealcoholization of a fermented product or aromatic blends, Citadelle 0.0 is crafted using a specific process inspired by perfumery techniques.
The production relies on gentle hydrodistillation, allowing the aromatic compounds of the botanicals to be extracted without the use of alcohol. The resulting distillate is then enhanced by a blend of natural extracts to structure the final aromatic profile.
This method aims to work directly with the plant material, drawing on the distillation expertise developed by the house for nearly thirty years.
19 botanicals
Citadelle 0.0 is made up of 19 botanicals, selected to align with the Citadelle Gin range. Nature is central to the product's development, featuring ingredients of natural origin and a direct link to the cultivation and experimentation conducted by the brand, particularly around juniper, citrus, and aromatic plants.
According to Maison Ferrand, working without alcohol required an adaptation of usual methods to focus on the direct expression of botanicals, without attempting to replicate an existing gin.
A product designed for cocktail use
Citadelle 0.0 is intended for use in non-alcoholic cocktails, especially with bases like tonic or in revisited classic recipes. The brand notably offers non-alcoholic versions of iconic cocktails, such as a Gin & Tonic or a French 75, made from Citadelle 0.0.
The product is aimed at a broad audience: consumers who do not drink alcohol regularly or occasionally, as well as fans of Citadelle Gin looking for alternative uses.
Availability
Citadelle 0.0 will be marketed in France and Italy starting January 2026, in 70 cl bottles, at a recommended retail price of €19.90
